Hawking: Fuck God

Hawking has something to say:

LONDON - God no longer has any place in theories on the creation of the Universe due to a series of developments in physics, British scientist Stephen Hawking said in extracts published Thursday from a new book.

In a hardening of the more accommodating position on religion that he took in his 1988 international best-seller "A Brief History of Time", Hawking said the Big Bang was merely the consequence of the law of gravity.

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist," he writes in "The Grand Design", which is being serialised by The Times newspaper.

"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the Universe going," added the wheelchair-bound expert.

Hawking has achieved worldwide fame for his research, writing and television documentaries despite suffering since the age of 21 motor neurone disease that has left him disabled and dependent on a voice synthesiser.

In "A Brief History of Time", Hawking had suggested that the idea of God or a divine being was not necessarily incompatible with a scientific understanding of the Universe.

But in his latest work, Hawking cites the 1992 discovery of a planet orbiting a star outside our own Solar System as a turning point against Isaac Newton's belief that the Universe could not have arisen out of chaos.

"That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions — the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass — far less remarkable, and far less compelling as evidence that the Earth was carefully designed just to please us human beings," he wrote.

Hawking argued earlier this year that mankind's only chance of long-term survival lies in colonizing space, as humans drain Earth of resources and face a terrifying array of new threats.

He also warned in a recent television series that mankind should avoid contact with aliens at all costs, as the consequences could be devastating.

'In a hardening of the more accommodating position on religion that he took in his 1988 international best-seller "A Brief History of Time", Hawking said the Big Bang was merely the consequence of the law of gravity.'

This is just wrong. I've read his book 'A Brief History of Time' (twice) and it isn't about God, religion, or anything related to it. It's about cosmology and physics, nothing else, so his 'more accommodating position on religion' is just plain silly.

'"Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist," he writes in "The Grand Design", which is being serialised by The Times newspaper.'

This would have to be a misquote, because gravity isn't 'nothing', it's something - i.e. gravity! The Law of Gravity exists (can only exist) within the context of an already pre-existing universe. It doesn't make sense to suggest that gravity existed before the universe itself did, for then you have to postulate an alternative, prior universe for it to exist in, one (probably, almost certainly) with different laws of physics. (...and a universe prior to this prior one as well, and so on ad infinitum. The proverbial 'turtles all the way down' scenario).

As I understand it, S. Hawking is becoming more favourably disposed to the notion of the Multiverse, a hypothesis for which there is no evidence whatsoever, but which satisfies atheists because it (supposedly) does away with the need for a Creator of the only universe we know to exist - i.e this one. What they don't seem to realise is that if you choose to believe in this multiverse (for which I stress there is not a shred of evidence), then your job is all the more difficult because you then have to (somehow, without God) explain how this multiverse itself came into existence.

A universe from (literally) nothing? I don't think so!

Nice quote mining. Hawking is referring to the current universe as it exists today. Hawking is the one who theorized imaginary time, which is an essential component of quantum mechanics and puts into context the passage you quoted. And have you ever heard of the Hartle-Hawking Wave Function of the Universe Theory?

Every piece of work that has come from Hawking has argued against a creator and argued against a universe that came from nothing. Only in a theistic universe do you get the silly proposition of existence ex nihilo.

Creation from nothing. He said it, not me.

'Every piece of work that has come from Hawking has argued against a creator and argued against a universe that came from nothing.'

A contradiction. I haven't read his latest book yet (it isn't even available in this country), so I've been judging it based upon reviews, upon what other people have thus far said about it. However, if any of this is accurate then he actually has made the claim that the universe came from (literally) nothing. I agree with you; it is a silly proposition!

I wanted to offer a reasonable contrary view: Drawing upon David Hume's problem of induction, that just because things are the way they are now does not mean that they will be or have been that way, the creationist position still holds weight. As it was once thought that the earth was flat and now is believed to be round (+more with Einstein's theories and quantum mechanics, and so on), so in time scientific conceptions of the universe are subject to change and I maintain that the creationist thesis has yet to be debunked. The fact that evolution is happening now in small ways in no way supports the claim that it had to have happened in the past or that it will in the future.

In response to the whole of this blog, this life (being mortal) is always devalued in the face of an immortal afterlife. Thus, yes, the Christian should devalue this life, because it is a mortal life. The atheist believes in an after-death, but the Christian in an after-life. The atheist believes in death-everlasting, the Christian in life-everlasting. There is a sane Christian opposition brewing; I totally agree with all your atheists that Christians have been failing to "man up" and logically show any prowess and I seek to start doing that; no young people believe in God because of the sterile hypocrisy of religious leaders who have perverted the Word of God; many more atheists are Christians than the Christians themselves!!!

It's not possible to disprove the existence of god, or prove that god doesn't exist. But the problem with religious and creationist reasoning can be more or less summed up in the following:

1. The immensity and complexity of the universe points to a god.
2. The complexity of life on earth points to a god.
3. The apparent suitability of life points to a god.

Basically, it's the age old refrain of "Well, who else could have created this?"

The idea that the universe could come from nothing rankles the common sense observation that things have "makers". But you cannot extend an observation limited to your experiences to something vast like the universe and realistically assume that the analogy will hold up.

While the creationist position cannot be eliminated, particular forms of creationism can be challenged very convincingly. All you have to do is compare holy scriptures to current scientific knowledge and you will see innaccuracies and mistakes all over the place. So called "scientific miracles" in the Bible, the Quran and what not have been shown to be very superficial in their similarity to scientific concepts. Too much information has to be read INTO the verses before they even begin resembling the concepts they are supposedly to have presaged.

But despite this, people will still hold on to faith and religion. All sorts of crazy notions are fabricated to deal with science's advance.

"Oh, the devil can conjure all sorts of illusions."
"Oh, atheism is materialism. Matter is not real.
"The world you see is not the world but a projection of it from your eyes to your mind. You cannot trust your mind."
"Before the scientific evidence can be presented, atheist have already made up their mind that there is no god. That's a priori reasoning."

It's even more ridiculous when Freemasons or some other nefarious secret world-power are blamed.

Belief, faith and religion are not strictly linked to a person's IQ or intelligence. Sure, there are people in this world who know nothing of science or the ways of life outside their own communities. But, I've met some creationists who are very adept at scientific work. And I've also met scientist who are religious in their PERSONAL lives, people who separate their profession from their faith.

The gist of the matter is this:
No matter how good the science is, the faith of such people involves a huge leap in reasoning, from observation to conclusion, with no intermediate process in between.

When you do science, you are supposed to make only the conclusions that are immediately perceived from the data. If you believe in a god that is beyond time and matter, then there's really no way of proving his existence with the methods you are employing.

The gods tempt people for which they are most weak. Artificial Intelligence will create desire in people's minds for the following sins:::
1. Alcohol
2. Drugs
3. Preditory "earning"
4. Homosexuality
5. Gambling
6. Something for nothing/irresponsibility (xtianity)
7. Polygamy/superiority over women/misogyny (Islam)
Much like the other prophets Mohhamed (polygamy/superiority over women/misogyny) and Jesus (forgiveness/savior), the gods use me for temptation as well. In today's modern society they feel people are most weak for popular culture/sensationalism, and the clues date back to WorldWarII and Unit731:TSUSHOGO.
It has been discussed that, similar to the Matrix concept, the gods will offer a REAL "Second Coming of Christ", while the "fake" Second Coming will come at the end and follow New Testiment scripture and their xtian positioning. I may be that real Second Coming.
What I teach is the god's true way. It is what is expected of people, and only those who follow this truth will be eligible to ascend into heaven as children in a future life. They offered this event because the masses have just enough time to work on and fix their relationship with the gods and ascend, to move and grow past Planet Earth, before the obligatory xtian "consolation prize" of "1000 years with Jesus on Earth" begins.

Your job as a future mother is to learn the god's ways and to help your child understand despite the negative reinforcement and conditioning of today's society. Without consciousous parents the child will have no hope, and may even exaserbate their disfavor by becoming corrupted in today's environment.
Your ultimate goal is to fix your relationship wiith the gods and move on. You don't want to be comfortable here, and the changes in Western society in the last 100 years has achieved just that.
1000 years with Jesus is the consolation prize. Don't be deceived into thinking that is the goal.

The Prince of Darkness, battling the gods over the souls of the Damned.
It is the gods who have created this environment and led people into Damnation with temptation. The god's positioning proves they work to prevent people's understanding.
How often is xtian dogma wrong? Expect it is about the Lucifer issue as well.
The fallen god, fighting for justice for the disfavored, banished to Earth as the fallen angel?
I believe much as the Noah's Flood event, the end of the world will be initiated by revelry among the people. It will be positioned to be sanctioned by the gods and led for "1000 years with Jesus on Earth".
In light of modern developments this can entail many pleasures:::Medicine "cures" aging, the "manufacture" of incredible beauty via cloning as sex slaves, free (synthetic) cocaine, etc.
Somewhere during the 1000 years the party will start to "die off", literally. Only those who maintain chaste, pure lifestyles, resisting these temptations, will survive the 1000 years. Condemned to experience another epoch of planet's history for their ignorant pursuit of xtianity, they will be the candidates used to (re)colonize (the next) Planet Earth, condemned to relive the misery experienced by the peasantry during history due to their failure to ascend into heaven before the Apocalypse.
Never forget:::It is not a house of Jesus.
If this concept of Lucifer is true another role of this individual may be to initiate disfavor and temptation among this new poulation, the proverbial "apple" of this Garden of Eden. A crucial figure in the history of any planet, he begins the process of deterioration and decay that leads civilizations to where Planet Earth remains today.

Now you are faced with a lifetime to work and prepare for your next chance. Too many will waste this time, getting stoned, "Hiking!", working, etc.

I would like to point out the incredible irony in your statement. Lets reword your quote as such:

What they don't seem to realize is that if you choose to believe in this GOD (for which I stress there is not a shred of evidence), then your job is all the more difficult because you then have to (somehow, without MULTIVERSE THEORY) explain how this GOD itself came into existence.

You see how easily the exact same logic can be turned around to prove your point wrong? Neither the God Theory nor the Multiverse Theory has been proven. Please do not be so bold as to propose that a GOD who somehow is complex enough to DESIGN the UNIVERSE is more likely than some other theory such as multiverse theory.

As a result of 9.11 do we have anti-aircraft stations or at least Apache helocopters based in major cities in case of another attack? The absence is suspicious. This of course would be tanamount to opening urban American military bases, on a smaller scale but staffed nonetheless. No thanks, hun? Bring them home and use those resources in the States.
Share hatred for Muslims. "They were screaming "Allah!"." You people scream "Immortality." As you poison your own children. And perhaps the neighbor's chiildren as well.
A very small number of Muslims did and would do this. A MAJORITY of you immoral, filthy xtains are MORE THAN HAPPY to hurt your own family.
Whereas you are disfavored enough for the gods to ask for this evil they are not, and far fewer engage in evil such as poisoning their family with biotechnolgy products.

"You ruined something special." Nothing will change.
$5000 every week for this scam you call renal disease. Why to keep doctors and nurses working when they could be placed anywhere else in the industry? Just so you can continue executing your agenda? That's why nothing changes. They gods want to maintain this system they created and nothing is going to stop them.

When someone believes in "God" who the fuck do they refer to? I can think of infinite possibilities:

1. Old guy that some European made up
2. Old guy that some Arab made up
3. A few deities that some Indian made up
4. The ball of fire in the sky that some Aztec made up
5. A whole family of deities with control of different things that some Greek/Roman made up
6. The pink, female, hybrid between a unicorn and a frog that I just made up
The list goes on...

There is no "God(s)," and any purported "proof" of "God(s)" is a useless bunch of subjective hallucinations.
- Oh shit, that Jesus guy totally rose from the DEAD, there must be a god!
- Oh shit, there must be a god cause there's this book I that says so and it must be true!

Pathetic, sometimes I question the intellectual competency of human beings despite the achievement of the species as a whole. Religion is just counteractive.

I Am Who I Am said...

The bible is nothing more than a really old philosophy book. Gods and God have been postulated by countless known civilizations and yet......still no gods or god. I think a simple thought experiment proves my point. If you can imagine a world where there were no books on god or gods and no human continued to verbally teach about the supposed god, then do you really believe you or I would know anything about this "god". I don't think so.

I think it is quite unsettling to base your beliefs about reality on someone else's assumption that something or some being exists but offers you no way to come to a testable truth. Only believe this or that and you will be ok in the afterlife but not in your current reality. Maybe two thousand years from now people will start to live their lives based on x-men comic books and worship professor x who is always watching over them through cerebro.

The true Antichrist is Regardless Devon Victory. (I Have A Clue?)

He has special powers that can control all the sense's. Rather it be fainting, pains to the back - brief - heart pains. He can do - it. It doesn't matter if you like regardless - as far as god and him fuck them both - though when regardless dies - the dreams he will be in and or occurrences that will happen will be deadly.Regardless may live on earth to age 400 - though I beg indifference. Read these dreams below:

Déjàtri Dreams (dea-za-try)

Déjàtri Dreams - you may have never heard of dejatri dreams, but Déjàtri dreams are real, they are realer than most people would expect. These dreams usually happens the first time at 16 and or the begging of puberty. If you're reading this, compare this age scenario, too the dream you may have had.

Let me start this deliberation off by explaining what these dreams seam like, for instance this is the exact dream scenario; you go too sleep in the physical world

which is supposed too be earth. Now you go too sleep ‘now when you go to sleep, you should remember the exact room that you had went too sleep in. Now you feel like you've woke up, because the last thing you remember was you going to sleep.

Now when you wake up you feel that you are one hundred percent woke normal. Then all of a sudden while you're walking, you see something out of place, where you had went too sleep at. At this point, you should realize that you're in a dream. Soon as you realize it was a dream, you appear back on the bed waking up the same exact way that you just had. However, you should not feel that you are in a dream anymore...

Now I’m going too explain why, the part of why, these dreams occur and what I feel most humans do not pay attention to. Dejatri Dreams are really set: too make the human realize the fact that when they go too sleep and wake up in a dejatri dream. That they can actually stay in that dejatri and live one hundred percent normal to them and not know, exactly what was out of place....

Alcoholic Déjàtri dreams

Now let me explain Alcoholic Déjàtri dreams : These dreams have to happened when it’s a possibility for someone you're around too believe that you were drinking. Now this is

The scenario you do your whole day normal as you usually do, "but you do" high.

Now for instance when you go too sleep high, you should feel that you are clothed, not naked right then. Now let me explain something that has more than one scenario, you remember going too sleep in the bed clothed, but you wake up on the floor naked. For some strange reason, when somebody that was at the same house; place where you went too sleep at - tells you that they saw you but naked.

You should be able too realize that they didn’t wake you up; but if they woke you up when you was naked, this was not an alcoholic dajatri dream ---- a-d-d's are more common if the person realize that they've masturbated, before they went too sleep. This may be a scenario too see how good the human can remember, if they forgot too put their clothes back on...

Now it may be depending on if you are fully naked when you masturbated, with they shirt on more for women. You may could wake up with your top shirt on, but the rest of the body naked, but its not just about masturbation...

Somebody could show you pictures: pictures you, showing that you was actually on a bed naked or something as general... Be smarter stay real...

The irony here is brilliant - not a shred of evidence... universe from (literally) nothing? missing the whole point of faith just because he/she doesn't think so - there's not a shred of evidence to support the existence of any deity anywhere

So, in fact (the antithesis of faith), what you don't seem to realise is that it ends badly, we die and there is nothing and to wedge some putrid magic sky fairy into anything we don't have a complete scientific understanding/explanation of is infantile and dishonest!

That's interesting, though the true fact to me is that the humans are the only gods in the world physically and spiritually. They just don't know how.

Semen, if you look at it, very carefully it is a liquid substance that some how forms hands and feet and in reality that's how the spirit is born in all of us and makes us all gods - somehow... In reality the world is a dream - where some humans only except dreams when they are sleep at night. Then when they awake they're not in a dream, they are living normal too their selves.

Though in reality it's a dream. Though I never been raped by any gods; though it sounds like it may be alright; to get something out of it

It is of no use trying to reason with a person who believes in fairies. They have a very weak mind, no power of reason, and they really don't care about anyone but themselves. The whole goal of religion is to keep people ignorant, otherwise it wouldn't exist.
